Repair order software for auto shops. Every bay at a glance.

Each repair order sits on a bay with its techs, a live timer and its status. Put a job on hold with a reason, and everyone sees it on their screen or the shop TV.

Waiting for parts
  • 5 bay states: free, working, on hold, inspection due and maintenance
  • 6 hold reasons, from waiting for parts to Other
  • 6 bay types, from general service to diagnostic
  • 30 s between refreshes on the shop TV display

From the booking to a free bay in four steps.

  1. 1 Start the job

Click Start on a confirmed booking and pick the techs. autoGMS opens the repair order, which it calls a job card, and moves the booking to In service.

  2. 2 Work it on the bay

The bay card shows the vehicle, the service and price, the techs and a live timer. Changes show up on every screen without a refresh.

  3. 3 Hold it when it stalls

Pick a reason, such as waiting for parts or waiting for customer approval, and add a note. The card turns amber until you resume the job.

On hold · Waiting for parts. Rotors due tomorrow.
  4. 4 Complete it and free the bay

Confirm the parts actually used, and the rest go back to stock. Any required inspection has to be done first. Then the bay turns green for the next car.

    Your Jobs

A tech sees only their own repair orders, plus what they finished in the last 7 days, and can complete a job from there.

  • On the shop TV

Bigger cards, the time and bay counts, refreshed every 30 seconds. A job running past its service time turns red.

Long jobs? Turn on Project Mode to split one job into stages. Each stage has its own status, from Draft to Closed, and can be invoiced on its own.

Where it stops. Better to know now.

  • It isn't a legal checklist. The repair order tracks the job on your floor. Whether it covers every repair-order rule in your state is yours to check.
  • No bay utilization report. Analytics covers booking flow, completion and timing. It doesn't show bay utilization, peak hours or per-bay rankings.
  • No separate technician app. Techs use autoGMS in their phone's browser.

Questions shops ask

Is a repair order the same as a job card?

Yes. autoGMS calls it a job card on screen and in the help center.

Can I add work once the repair order is open?

Yes, on the same repair order. Revise the booking's estimate and send it for approval, add parts through the booking, or adjust the final price with a reason.

When do parts come off stock?

When you assign them to the job. At completion you confirm what was used, and the rest goes back to stock.

Can techs complete their own jobs?

Yes. A tech can complete any job assigned to them from their own view.

Can I take a bay out of service?

Yes. Switch on maintenance mode for a free bay, and it won't show up when you assign work. You can't switch it on while a job is running.
